I had heard rumors. I was hopeful. Then, during my latest podcast episode with Metroboard's Ilan Sabar, he further confirmed that the original engineers of the FOCBOX Unity were working with Lacroix to breathe new life into the project.
After we wrapped the episode I took a moment to check my social media, and there it was...
Lacroix had posted renders of their new Stormcore motor controller on Facebook and Instagram barely minutes before we started recording. It's gorgeous!
A little further digging reveled that slightly before the social media posts, Alex from Lacroix had also made the announcement on the esk8.news forum.
This is amazing news for the community! Other boutique builders such as Bioboards and Hoyt St have already declared that they'll be using the Stormcore in their new builds. I suspect most (if not all) of the boutique builders to follow suit.
Accompanying the Stormcore is a new iOS app (with Android coming soon) developed by none other than Sophia Tung. Further, the 100V dual Stormcore is looking to be tested on set-ups between 13s and a whopping 20s! This is truly 'holy shit' levels of awesome!
Thank you, thank you, thank you to Alex Archambault, Jeff Friesen, Charles Allix and Sophia Tung for making this possible!
I'll endeavor to get Alex on a future episode of The State of ESK8 podcast to talk about how all of this came together!
